finding inspiration in each season: fall
We’re well into fall, my favorite season, and I’m SO excited! A lot of my artwork is inspired by seasonal characteristics and the feelings and moods each season evokes. Autumn, in particular, means a lot to me because it reminds me of happy times at the start of each year in college—I went to undergrad in Maine, where the leaves put on a colorful, enchanting show each year!
The leaves here in the Bay Area, unfortunately, don’t get as vibrant as they get in New England and other more northern parts of the country, but they certainly have their beautiful moments. I took the picture below during a walk in my neighborhood last November. I loved the shock of orange and red against the grey sky and wanted to paint a piece inspired by this image. So, one night during an acrylic painting class I took with a local artist, I experimented with painting an abstract rendition of the photo. This resulted in one of my favorite paintings of mine, “November Streets.”
In addition to the colors of fall (and Taylor Swift’s album, “Red (Taylor’s Version),”…had to get in a Swiftie reference! ;)) I also love what this season often signifies: letting go of worries and baggage and allowing what no longer fits in your life to fall away or change in some way, instead of trying to force it to remain in the form with which you’re comfortable.
What does fall mean to you?? What’s one of your favorite things about fall??
