finding inspiration in each season: spring

Apologies for being a little late with my spring inspiration blog post! Life has been… a lot lately! Though, the spring blooms provide so much inspiration and never cease to uplift me. If you’ve been following my journey for a while, you know I LOVE to paint flowers…whether loose watercolor florals or abstract acrylic paintings.

My favorite thing about spring is the feeling of something new on the horizon. For fans of astrology, spring kicks off the Zodiac calendar with fire-sign Aries (March 21 - April 19). The flame of Aries ignites the Zodiac. If you know any Aries folks, you know they’ve got a fiery spirit!

The painting above is titled “Start of Something New.” I painted it a few years ago. The title is inspired by my experimenting with a new style when creating this painting.

Spring offers an endless supply of artistic inspiration. When I first started really getting into watercolor painting, I painted lots and lots of flowers and botanicals. The bright, happy colors of spring also inspire my introverted soul to leave the house more, lol.

I recently painted the flowers and ladybugs below as the elements to include in a new repeat pattern design to include in my Spoonflower Shop, which prints my designs on a variety of products such as tea towels, sheets, wallpaper, and more! I can’t wait to see how the design turns out!

What’s your favorite thing about spring? Let me know in the comments!
